Pump Plate-Tri Spoke-S1
Pump Plate-Tri Spoke-S1
The Pump Plate-Tri Spoke-S1 by Alex Athletics is the essential weight for studio group fitness. Featuring a high-density rubber coating, it protects floors and reduces noise during high-rep workouts. The ergonomic Tri-Spoke design offers three easy-to-grip handles, allowing the plate to function as a handheld weight for presses and raises. Designed for 28mm standard pump bars, it combines safety, versatility, and durability for commercial studios and home aerobics.
The Group Fitness Standard: Rubber Pump Plate (Tri-Spoke)
In the high-energy world of group fitness classes like BodyPump™, equipment needs to be safe, fast to handle, and durable. The Pump Plate (Tri-Spoke S1) by Alex Athletics is designed specifically for this studio environment. Unlike standard iron plates, these discs are coated in high-density rubber. This coating serves two critical purposes: it protects the studio floor from damage during quick changes, and it deadens the noise of plates clanking together, allowing the instructor’s voice and music to take center stage. The center hole is sized at 28mm (Standard), making it compatible with the lightweight pump bars used in aerobic strength classes.
The defining feature of the S1 model is its “Tri-Spoke” design. Three large, ergonomic handles are cut into the plate, allowing participants to grip the weight securely with one hand. This transforms the plate from a simple load into a versatile handheld tool. You can hold a 5kg or 10kg plate like a steering wheel for front raises, tricep overhead presses, or weighted Russian twists. This versatility is essential for group classes where space is limited and equipment needs to be multi-functional. With a sleek black finish and clear weight markings, the Alex Pump Plate is the professional choice for commercial studios and home users looking to replicate the class experience.
1. Ergonomic Tri-Spoke Handles
Speed and safety are paramount in a fast-paced class. The three integrated handles make it effortless to pick up plates from the floor or rack. They provide a secure, non-slip grip that allows for rapid transitions between tracks (e.g., switching from squats to chest press). This design also prevents finger-pinching accidents common with solid plates.
2. High-Density Rubber Coating
The rubber shell is the key to longevity. It acts as a shock absorber, protecting the cast iron core from cracking and the studio floor from scuffs. It makes the plates quiet to use, which is a major benefit for home gyms in apartments or upstairs rooms. The rubber also provides a tactile surface that is comfortable to hold.
3. Handheld Exercise Versatility
These plates are designed to be held. The grips allow you to use the plate as a dumbbell substitute. This opens up a wide range of isolation exercises—lateral raises, halos, curls—without needing extra equipment. It maximizes the utility of a single pump set.
4. 28mm Studio Standard Fit
Designed to fit standard 28mm diameter bars (sometimes called “Standard” or “Pump” bars). This ensures a snug, wobble-free fit on the lightweight bars used for high-repetition endurance training. (Note: Not compatible with 50mm Olympic bars).
5. Commercial Grade Durability
Built for the daily abuse of a commercial gym schedule, these plates resist peeling and cracking. The high-quality rubber maintains its integrity even after thousands of drops and impacts, ensuring your studio equipment looks professional for years.
